Havertys

I was contracted to work on Havertys’ employee engagement website portal, which promoted employee health. The company had created an animated video to promote the Havertys’ My Wellness employee portal, but they encountered several problems with the video. First of all, their designer used a whiteboard animation technique that had long been out of style. Furthermore, the pacing of the video was slow, the music was unenergetic, and the voiceover work was uninspiring, which made the entire effort unengaging.

 

When I voiced my opinion of the video, the company agreed that it could be better, but they didn’t have the time to create a new one. However, after meeting with Havertys’ board members, I was approached to produce an entirely new video from scratch within a week. Despite some initial doubts, I was determined to complete the task, and it took me only three days to finish the new video.

 

Thanks to the rapport I had established with the company over the years, I was given free rein to produce the video in my own vision using the same script. I decided to use an explainer video style of animation, as it was more engaging and would increase viewer interest. To ensure a well-planned video, I began by working on a storyboard to help with planning my scenes and getting the pacing down.

 

The new video I produced was a significant improvement over the previous version, and it showcased my skills as a graphic designer and my ability to deliver quality work under tight deadlines. The improved video helped to promote the Havertys’ My Wellness employee portal more effectively, leading to increased employee engagement and better health outcomes. As a graphic design consultant, I take pride in delivering high-quality work that meets the needs of my clients and their target audience.
